Last Epoch Season 4 Patch Overview Shattered Omens

Welcome back, travelers! I’m Jud Coobbler, the founder of 11th Hour Games and game director for Last Epoch. Today, I’m thrilled to share the exciting details about Season 4, Shattered Omens, launching on March 26th. This season introduces several new features, including a unique horde-based mechanic, the Omen Windows, a revamped idol system, the power to corrupt your items, and the epic new pinnacle encounter, the Fractured Prison. We’re also adding two brand-new skills for the Rogue, new powerful unique and set items, updates to the Monolith of Fate with Echo Chains, and numerous quality of life improvements. Let’s dive into all the changes coming your way this season! An ample supply of Last Epoch gold can also be of great help to you.

The Void’s Reach – Omen Windows

Season 4 brings a terrifying new threat from the shadows of Oblivion: the Omen Windows. These windows, found throughout the world of Aterra, will spawn Omens, powerful servants of Orabus who buff their allies and cast dangerous spells. These omens are temporarily invulnerable, and to defeat them, you’ll need to stay within the Omen's designated area and eliminate the fractured enemies it spawns. Leaving the area will cause a countdown to begin, forcing you to fight within the Omen's sphere of influence.

Once you’ve defeated enough fractured enemies, the Omen loses its invulnerability and will consume the remaining enemies, empowering itself and becoming vulnerable to your attacks. If you’re successful, you’ll be rewarded with Time Glass Fragments, Runes of Corruption, Corrupted Items, Omen Idols, and Idol Altars. Greater Omen Windows can be found in the Monolith at the end of an Omen Window Echo Chain. These encounters are more challenging, spawning two omens at once with tougher enemies to fight. Completing a Greater Omen Window will create a Time Glass Core, which you can shatter to gain additional Time Glass Fragments or use to generate Echo Chains.

Echo Chains – New Layer to Endgame Content

Echo Chains introduces a fresh approach to the Monolith system, offering players more agency over the content they engage with. These sequences of Echoes share a common mechanical theme and culminate in a tough final challenge that brings high risks and rewards. There are five types of Echo Chains: Nemesis Chains, High Stability Chains, Rift Beast Chains, Omen Window Chains, and Pinnacle of Chaos Chains, which includes a Greater Omen Window filled with champions.

A new Weaver Tree Node will help regular Echoes get arranged into Echo Chains without affecting special Echo Chains' spawn rate. Players will now have immediate access to regular timelines, with the exception of the three Level 90+ timelines. To access these, you’ll need to complete the final two chapters of the current campaign or conquer any of the first seven timelines. These tasks will reward Knowledge Points, and higher-level timelines provide more Knowledge, allowing you to access Empowered Timelines much faster.

The Monolith UI has also been updated for clarity, making it easier to track your progress and goals. Echo of a World rewards have been replaced with a central chest that contains Echo-specific rewards and gold piles. These rewards now scale with the number of bonus stability thresholds you reach.

The Rune of Corruption – A Risk and Reward Mechanic

One of the most intriguing additions in Shattered Omens is the Rune of Corruption. This powerful crafting tool lets you corrupt items, but be warned, it comes with significant risks. Corrupted items cannot be modified further, may become worse than before, and will lose all remaining forging potential or legendary potential. However, successful corruption can turn an item into a game-changing piece of gear with enhanced stats or even new properties.

Alongside this, the Idol System has undergone a major shakeup. A new slot above your Idol inventory, called the Idle Alter, allows you to modify your Idol Grid layout. These Idol Altars come with refracted slots, which grant unique bonuses when placing Idols in them. There are 13 different layouts to discover, each offering its own bonuses.

New Woven Echoes and Fractured Prison

Two new Woven Echoes are introduced in Season 4: Omen’s Veil and Fractured Prison. In Omen’s Veil, you’ll encounter three Greater Omen Windows, each with dark energy. You can tackle them one by one, or for the bravest travelers, shatter all three simultaneously to face the intense challenge. The reward for surviving this encounter is the pinnacle battle of the season, the Fractured Prison.

The Fractured Prison is a grueling gauntlet that will test your build's strength and mastery of the Omen mechanic. This encounter is unlocked once you reach a corruption threshold of 400 on any empowered timeline. It’s a significant challenge for any player looking to prove their skill and push their build to the limit.

Rogue Updates – New Skills and Blade Dancer Enhancements

Season 4 puts a special focus on the Rogue, adding two new powerful abilities. Bladestorm, a new skill, creates spinning blades at a target location and causes devastating area-of-effect damage. Previously part of the Umbral Blade skill tree, Bladestorm now stands alone with its own skill tree and new, exciting nodes like Blade Detonation, which causes blades to explode in a powerful AoE when they collide.

The second new Rogue skill, Shadow Rend, allows you to create a shadow version of your attack, dealing substantial damage. This skill can be used with both melee weapons and bows, and players can unlock various synergies with other shadow-based abilities. Some nodes enable shadows to move independently, allowing them to hunt down enemies for you, while others grant them the power to use abilities like Shadow Cascade or Multi-Shot.

In addition, the Blade Dancer passive tree has been revamped to provide more power for less investment. New nodes such as Grit and Mastered Form will add defensive options to Blade Dancer builds, while existing nodes have been consolidated to make the skill tree more streamlined.

Spellblade and Additional Changes

Spellblade also sees some improvements this season, including a new mastery bonus that adds a percentage of added melee damage as spell damage. Several new nodes in the passive tree enhance mana sustain and damage scaling for high-cost mana skills. Additionally, Shattering Strike can now trigger a Glacier, and Flame Reave can trigger Fireball and Lightning Blast.

Season 4 also introduces a variety of balance changes and bug fixes across all classes and skills. For example, Acolytes’ skeleton archers can now permanently have cold or fire arrows instead of relying on a cooldown. Primalists’ Melstrom Tsunami now gains increased area from each Melstrom stack, allowing it to be played as a hit-based build with massive area.

New Loot and Animations

Along with these gameplay changes, Season 4 introduces new loot. Nine powerful new uniques and 15 new set items are being added, and several underperforming uniques have received buffs. New animations for Primalists and Rogues have been implemented, along with updated hit reactions for enemies. The game’s core animation tech has also been updated to provide smoother transitions between actions, improving overall combat flow.

For players focused on loot, a new loot filter system has been implemented, allowing for more specific rules and greater control over the items you see. You can now filter shards, runes, and glyphs, as well as adjust loot beam sizes and colors. The max number of loot filter rules has been increased to 200, making it easier than ever to find valuable items for your build. A large amount of cheap Last Epoch gold can also be of great help to you.
